Here's
a look at a typical auto A/C system
air flow illustration
Notice
that all of the air entering your vehicle from the the fresh air inlet passes
over the evaporator first. That is typical in every auto A/C system on the
road, regardless of vehicle manufacturer. The auto A/C system is typically
called a 'series reheat system' because no matter what temperature setting
you call for (hot or cold or somewhere in between) the air must first pass
over the A/C evaporator. Then it is directed straight into the car (when
you want air conditioning) or it's directed over the heater (when you want
heat) or the air is mixed (some from the evaporator and some over the heater)
when you want a moderate temperature.
With all
the air passing over the evaporator first, it collects all the contamination
in the air. That includes bacteria, mold, mildew, spores and anything else.
That's why it's important to get the right
A/C
Evaporator Treatment that will eliminate that odor causing bacteria.
